The Rose Garden Family Support Centre offers the "Parenting in Unison" workshop series to all parents living separately or going through separation or divorce.
The workshop is intended to help reduce conflict, or the potential for conflict, by helping parents understand the needs of children who are caught in the middle of a major life upheaval.
Important information parents need to know :
If you are a parent living separately, or are going through a separation or divorce, this workshop may be one of the most important steps you take to learn what you need to protect your child's future.
No one is more likely to bear the burden of separation and divorce than children. Even in the most good-natured of family break-ups, children are suddenly faced with considerable change in their lives and changes with which they often have difficulty coping. At the same time, children experience significant feelings of loss due to the day-to-day absence of one of their parents. Frequently, many of these children are drawn into the middle of a battle between the parents and are often asked, pressured or forced to take sides. Usually parents are in the best position to make decisions about what is best for their children but, often this is blinded by anxiety, trauma, fear and hostility caused by the separation.
By providing information, raising awareness and practical solutions, including the development of parenting plans to help parents focus on their children’s needs and properly plan for their future, children can be protected from adult agendas and conflict.
Parents might break up but, to children, they will always be a family.
The workshop runs over 5 weekly, 3 hour sessions, and is offered free-of-charge to parents, grandparents, step-parents, extended family and friends.
We shall be holding ongoing workshops over the coming year; however, space is limited so please book early to reserve a seat.
